How Custom Code Automation Accelerated Foodstuffs South Island’s SAP S/4HANA Transformation

In 2018 Foodstuffs South Island created a Digital strategy (Beyond 2025) to transform SAP. We’re upgrading to S/4HANA, how can I make sure that my custom code works as expected??

To answer this question, you need to know exactly how big your code repository is, how everything in it works, and how many coding issues need to be addressed. This is almost impossible to do manually, and custom code remediation is a potential pitfall in most SAP modernization projects. Luckily, smartShift can give you  a FREE Rapid Code Analysis to tell you exactly what is needed for your custom code remediation project, how long it will take (smartShift can guarantee 100% S/4HANA compatibility in a few weeks), and how much it will cost.

When is automation NOT automation? Can you automate the entire custom code remediation process? Does it really matter if the process is manual or automated?

The key to meeting the goals of your SAP modernization project is understanding how the work gets done. The more human hands touching your code, the higher the risk of error, and the more time and money you’ll need to invest to complete the project. Automating part of the process and manually completing the rest is not a sensible use of automation. Many of the world’s most well-known companies have used smartShift Intelligent Automation® to remediate their custom code. Following their paths to success will likely lead to similar success for you.

What matters most after go-live, when your custom code hits production? Is taking a basic compliance approach enough to successfully migrate your custom code?

The basics have to work, for sure, but that’s not all. The security, performance and stability of your code also factors into the mix. A well-rounded approach to custom code remediation requires going beyond traditional priority-based compliance.
