Gebr. Heinemann, a major distributor, and retailer for the international travel retail market, started their journey towards SAP HANA / SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud (SAP HEC) at the beginning of 2020. They selected smartShift to efficiently, quickly, and reliably establish HANA-readiness for their custom applications. smartShift’s patented automation for analysis and migration were instrumental in their selection for this challenging endeavor.

smartShift successfully converted the legacy ABAP code to HANA-ready and HANA-performance-optimized custom code for three central SAP systems – Retail, Forecast & Replenishment, and GTS. The largest system consisted of more than 2.5 million Lines of Code and more than 50,000 ABAP objects in scope. The code conversion took place in lightning-fast 2 weeks per system. smartShift addressed ~25,000 issues with only two tickets raised in testing – an unmatched quality (0.00008% error rate) compared to a traditional manual approach.
